Assessment of the Carbon Footprint and VOCs Emissions Caused by the Manufacturing Process of the Footwear Industry in Bangladesh

Every industry has an impact on the environment, either good or bad, and leather footwear industries are no exception. For industry, main environmental impacts releasing of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) solid wastes. The pressure reducing harm to environment is coming from both consumers legislation. CO2 VOCs hazardous human health also trigger serious problems, such as ozone layer depletion, offensive odour, photochemical smog, acid rain many others. Adhesives, finishing products cleaners contribute emissions in manufacturing industry. emission may arise primers, separating agents, printing inks pastes. Some most commonly produced benzene, toluene, styrene, ethylene, xylene, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methyl ethyl ketone, chlorobenzene, phenol etc. All these cause severe problems humans have adverse effect environment. An increasing number factories adversely affects health. One largest shoe comes stages shoe’s life cycle. This study was carried out measure carbon footprint among ten selected factories. results revealed that total energy for one pair shoes 18.004826 MJ, water 8.37167 litres 9.174979 kg eq. highest terms lies process with a 5.85109 (kg). consumption fashion around 36.5 g/pair average. There should be initiative taken aim adjusting choice methods, materials, machines monitoring systems well safety policy workers
